We currently have one major fund raising event each year, our Care
and Share campaign. Community volunteers make up our task force
and are dedicated to this fund raising effort benefiting our hospital.
Participants may choose to designate their donation to the general
budget, special projects or endowment. Donors giving gifts accumulative
of $1000.00 or more are recognized on our “Wall of Commitment”
in the hospital lobby.
We also have
smaller fund raising events throughout the year that connect our
community members, youth and adults, with the hospital.
We have a tree
of lights celebration with proceeds designated toward a chapel and
Healing Garden. Family, friends and loved ones are cherished joys
of the Christmas season. The Crete Area Health Care Foundation schedules
a special time each year to pause to remember and honor our loved
ones. The first Sunday in December each year is our annual Tree
of Lights Celebration. During the celebration, we read the names
of those we are remembering during the holiday season. The festivities
include Christmas carols and refreshments. Prior to the 5:00p.m.
ceremony, we want you to capture the holiday spirit by visiting
4 homes that their owners have agreed to show. We recognize the
loss of a loved one is a very private thing. Besides reading the
names during the Tree of Lights Ceremony, all names will be displayed
on ornaments on a Christmas tree in our hospital lobby , as well
as in our chapel book. Ornaments may be picked up at the Medical
Center after January 1 st. For more information, please contact
Susan Chrastil at the Crete Area Health Care Foundation at P. 0,

The Crete Area
Health Care Foundation sponsors a Bowl-a- Thon at Wil-Bol in Wilber
each fall to raise money for pediatric equipment for the hospital.
This event is always fun with a wide age range of bowlers usually
from 4 to 79 years of age. The Bowl-a-thon generates funds to be
used in the Pediatric Area of the Crete Area Medical Center. Susan
Chrastil, CAHC Foundation Director is pleased that Dairy Queen has
contributed each year so that the hospital can purchase the pediatric
items needed. Prizes for the bowlers are donated from local businesses
with City Bank donating Nebraska football tickets each year as the
top prize. For more information, contact the Crete Area Health Care
Foundation at: camcfoundation@yahoo.com
The Foundation
works closely with the hospital to help determine the needs of our
facility. The board then decides what capital expenditures it spends
its money on and what needs more discussion or should come out of
the general budget of the hospital.
I’m sure
all of you know how important our hospital is and the direction
of the Foundation is based on our community’s donations. As
a lifelong member of Crete, I personally know the importance of
having a hospital in Crete. All of my family members, myself included,
have used the healthcare services at the Crete hospital sometime
in their lives. I personally know about the quality care & compassion
that our hospital employees have for their patients. Their commitment
to excellence in our community shows in the care they give. There
is something about small town people, our friends and family, taking
care of us that is comforting. During these ever-changing times,
our hospital, with the support of the foundation, will continue
to strive for state of the art medical care and continue its caring,
personal treatment.
I would encourage
all of you, as community leaders and caring individuals, to keep
the Crete Area Health Care Foundation in mind as you make your annual
contributions. Your donations will benefit you, your family, and
our community.
Thanks
for your support,
Susan
